Apart from the Injection
Harm, there are other dangers associated with Injection Drug use, A
person injecting alone is in bad company as the person risks with no
help what so ever happened to him/her. Harm reduction says always
inject with a company, non-user or a friend would be great. There is
a brilliant way to cheat such death, is to head to the nearest
Out-Reach center to get help and do it safe and secure to live and be
informed that life can be Reformed and Changed. The person in the
Picture is an example of lonely and helpless death. The person
finished injecting and probably the fire he used to cook his shot was
smoking until the Innocent person was engulfed in fire as he was
laying down on the leaves under a tree shade, which had thick and dry
dead leaves. Due to the disabling effect of the Substance, he was
unable to save him self or push himself to safety. He lay there
totally burnt and naked as his clothes were burnt only a small piece
of his underwear was left when help arrived from the Local Community
Based Organisation. Other people who use went there, saw and alerted
the community members, who rushed to help, pulled him to safe place,
put some clothes on him and waited for help. He was taken to
Government hospital which is the best for burn victims, however
in-spite of best efforts by the doctors, he did not respond to
treatment and died the next day. There are numerous and remarkable
incidents happened to users during the peak effect of the substance
as safety does not instinctively come, but by Example, Education,
Empowerment and an enabling environment to holistically practice
safety. Last but not the least this user who died demonstrated his generocity by donating his eyes just before his death.
